Scraplifting 101 By Lisa Frayne
Our blog is full of great ideas. And if you learn to use our page and even card examples as guides, and take some liberties with them, the possibilities are endless.
If you see a page layout that you like, but you don’t have the right photos for it, change the theme! For example, your son may not play football, but he’s a MVP on the baseball field. You need to learn to look beyond the specifics of a page and start using it as a starting point to create your own page. With the huge variety of sports paper and embellishments we carry, finding appropriate supplies for your theme should never be a problem.
The easiest way to make this transition is by trying to match the paper you want to use with the paper in the layout that inspired you. For example, match stripes to stripes, polka dots to polka dots, etc. If that’s not possible, another thing to consider is the scale of the pattern. For example, stars could be used in place of polka dots. By using the paper in the layout that inspired you as a guide, you can be confident that your page will look just as good.
And if the layout you’re copying is only one page and you have enough photos for a two page spread, rotate it! Depending on the page, you may need to rotate it anywhere from 90-360 degrees. Experiment with your options and choose the one you like best. No matter which one you choose, you can rest assured that it will complement your first page perfectly.
Happy Scrapping!
