Furry Pal layout by Jolene Johnston
Distress Inks are an amazing addition to your scrapbooking tool kit. Scrappin’ Sports Stuff now carries five basic colors to match most of your projects. Here are a few ideas for using Distress Inks.
Inks are most easily used for stamping. The surface of each Distress Ink pad is raised for easy use. Simply tap the stamp onto your ink pad for an even application. For larger stamps, lay the stamp on your work surface (stamping side up) and apply the Distress Ink by holding the pad upside down and gently tapping on the ink. It’s easy to see where the ink has been applied, allowing complete coverage for perfect stamped images.
Distress Inks are also great for adding soft distressed edges to papers. By using the Ink Blending Tool and applying ink in swirling motions you can add a little grunge to just about anything! Try using ink on cardstock, patterned paper, journaling spots and die cuts.
Distress Inks also work well with masking. Adhere lace cut cardstock, alphabet stickers or die cut shapes to your paper using a temporary adhesive. Then use the same swirling motion with the Ink Blending Tool to cover the “masked” area you protected. Be sure to add ink along the edges of the mask for a crisp image. When you remove the mask, the paper underneath is exactly the same as before. The area you inked looks grungy and fantastic! (Note: The Lace Cut Cardstock I used as a mask for this project has a silver metallic surface. Once it is removed from the project it can be gently cleaned with a paper towel. The ink does not stick to the surface, so it can be used in its original form.)
Distress Inks blend well, too. Try any of the techniques I mentioned while using the inks in combination. You can get some great effects by varying your color choices. So stop by the Scrappin’ Sports Stuff store and add a Distress Ink Pad or two to your shopping cart. I hope you have some inky fun!
